Well, I've decided to explore acrylic painting. It's been an astonishing exploration so far. I've discovered that there is a naturalness and instinct in me around painting with acrylics that I haven't experience before with other media. It's like I somehow already know how to do things with it, but my memory had been erased. I'm able to produce images for which I wouldn't have a hope of drawing an equivalent. My penchant for numbering my works continues here. The studies are numbered according to their order of being initiated. They are being posted in order of their completion.

While on retreat, my spiritual director suggested I create some mandalas to assist my meditation and reflection. At first I resisted. Soon, though, I relaxed into the idea, and tentatively drew my first empty circle. As Mandala 1 emerged, I discovered that this practice naturally became part of my work of claiming my spirit back. Like sitting meditation, it provided an opportunity to notice the wanderings of my mind, and to come ever back into the present moment to focus on creative emergence.  As the images revealed themselves, I began to see deeper symbolic associations, and how they connected and integrated.
